SporTracker (version 1)
The first version of SporTracker allowed users to post scores for golf-style games and calculated averages for users of the "front 9", "back 9", and entire course so you could compare your game statistics with other users. That was about all it did.SporTracker (version 2)
The second version of SporTracker came with several behind-the-scenes improvements in the way scoring was calculated, introduced a "player" list (which helped keep users scores grouped together), and also brought the ability to compare scores of games played by different users side-by-side.SporTracker (version 3)
If you're not new to SporTracker, this is the section you're here for! We've just launched the third version of SporTracker and there have been a few changes, as follows:
• Added: We've added a comment section for each completed game. When you finish a game, other users can view your game stats and post comments!
• Added: Each "hole" of your golf-style game is played and entered one step at a time, rather than all at once like previous versions of SporTracker. The primary reason for this is because the length of your game might be longer than the length of your login session - and we'd sure hate to see you lose your scores if you got logged out!
• Added: Due to the above change, we've now added the ability to continue a game in-progress. If you're out on the course and a storm hits, feel free to log out and get to safety! You'll find your game ready to continue when you log back in later - just remember, you have 24 hours to log back in and finish your game before it gets automatically saved as an incomplete game. Stats and comments are not available for incomplete games.
• Added: While playing a game of "dart golf", we've adjusted the interface to dynamically provide multiplier radio buttons for each dart - reducing the amount of arithmetic and calculation users previously had to perform in their head before entering scores.
• Changed: We've changed the way scores and stats are saved and calculated. In previous versions, the stats were calculated at the time of submission and saved in the database alongside the scores. In this version, we've improved the speed and reliability of the system by only saving the scores in the databse. The stats are calculated when the game review is loaded, which helps to distribute server load while the SporTracker system is being used.
• Removed: We've removed the ability to edit scores. We may revisit this decision later on if feedback is received to warrant this functionality. At this time, we feel that the simplified score entry interface should significantly reduce the likelihood of errors while scores are being entered.
